Our Performance touring line offers
the perfect compromise of hull speed and
maneuverability. Think of rocker as the shape of a banana
- the amount of bend a kayak's hull has lengthwise from bow to
stern is how much rocker a boat has. The key to a great hull is to find
the perfect blend; too much rocker and the boat loses speed, not enough
and the boat is too stiff and won't turn. We have fine tuned our perfor-
mance line through days upon days of kayaking to find that perfect blend.
Our choice of medium chines allows the kayak to be edged with confidence
and rock hard secondary stability. The ability to perform tight controlled
turns without fear of catching an edge makes medium chines a perfect choice. The shape of our kayaks has
proportioned the width perfectly
to the length of the kayak. This
gives paddlers the ability to easily
edge into secondary stability for
turning. This allows us to use a shal-
lower V hull to gain more primary
stability; a feature which paddlers
of all ability levels yearn for.
Whether turning with a low outside
edge turn through a path of lily pads
on a slow moving river or cranking a
hard inside lean down the face of a
head high wave, our hull gives both
stability and performance.
Although serious expeditions are not
the goal of all paddlers, we want the
Performance series to be able to handle
all the challenges you choose to take
on. Using large rubber storage hatch
covers and day hatch covers allows you to store more gear under the deck with maximum dryness. Expedition deck rigging,
including heavy gauge reflective deck lines, serves not only as added safety but as confident
storage of above deck items such as charts and spare paddles. Compass recesses and multi
function carry/rescues handles finish out a well-planned deck. Our larger cockpit opening
and simple seat outfitting allow for easy movement in and out of the kayak for unstable
launches or rough sea rescues. Along with a larger cockpit opening, we have minimized the
outfitting to make for a comfortable yet simple system. More moving parts and gadgets create
areas to catch gear on and cause hang-ups while entering and exiting the kayak. Our seat pad
is comfortable and non-skid for better control and longer paddling. The Immersion Research
back band we use is "On Demand" adjustable yet simple, made comfortable and warm with gel
core and neoprene covering.
Designed in four sizes we have accommodated paddlers of all heights, weights and body
dimensions. Nothing has been overlooked in our Performance Series, so be sure to check us
